RV Side Windows

RV car on the mountain
Not as vulnerable
One thing you can say about the side windows on an RV is that they are not as prone to damage as the windshield. Their positioning keeps them safer and away from most obstacles that would normally damage a windshield.

However, side windows can still get damaged by low-hanging branches or too much road vibration, to name a couple of sources. It is a good thing that our company, RV Window Repair, has talented workmen who know how to replace or repair those side windows when you need it done ASAP.  Contact us when you are nearby to schedule an appointment and get your RV looking great again.

Can you replace just the glass in an RV window?
In most cases, it is possible to just replace the glass in your side windows. The same amount of work is involved in this repair option as is repairing the entire window assembly.  The key to replacing just the glass is to use the right type of glass and work carefully. Even tempered glass can break with just the right force placed in exactly the right spot.  Just make sure to measure accurately so you do not buy the wrong size of glass.

Can you use plexiglass for RV windows?
More and more RV makers are turning to plexiglass for some of their windows. The reason is that this material is 17 times stronger than regular glass as well as a lot lighter. Plus, it is more energy efficient as well as cheaper than other window options.  The drawback to using plexiglass is that it can scratch easily and ruin quickly. Sometimes it is best to use this material as a temporary replacement for a broken window or as added insulation.

How do you measure a replacement window for an RV?
To accurately measure for a replacement RV side window, you need to remove the glass, its frame, and rubber seal. Then you need to measure the opening and not the window.  You will need to take a few measurements to ensure that your dimensions are accurate and account for any rounded sections of the window. This is not like measuring an opening to fit a 2 x 4 or a sheet of plywood.

Are all camper door windows the same size?
The answer to this question is no. While there are a few common sizes like 14 by 22 inches, RV and trailer doors are not always the same size, even when there are multiple doors on your RV or Trailer.  To get the best fit, you would have to measure each door’s window’s opening. You can’t assume everything is the same size because they are on the same RV or trailer.  If you are having trouble with your RV’s side windows, then contact our company in Temecula, CA. Repairing and replacing RV side windows is one of our specialties. Here at RV Window Repair, we handle all sorts of window issues for RV owners.
