Windshield Damage on RV's can happen in Temecla, at anytime
The RV’s windshield is the most vulnerable of all the windows in your RV. It is exposed to the elements, rocks, low-hanging branches, and more sources of damage.  The sad thing is that your windshield can be damaged even when it is sitting in storage. This is one reason why our company, RV Window Repair, offers a windshield repair service. We know that can happen to your windshield through no fault of your own.  Our professional technicians can replace or repair your damaged windshield and have your RV look like nothing ever happened to it.

Can you replace just the glass in an RV window?

In this situation, the answer will depend on the type of damage done to your windshield. If you have a simple dimple or crack, it may be possible to replace just the glass.  But with severe damage, the frame and the gaskets will be damaged as well. Replacing just the glass is not an option. When you are in doubt, it pays to have an expert windshield repairman inspect the damage to see what course of action is the best route to take.  This is not a DIY project for many valid reasons which include your insurance company’s requirement that a professional do the repair work

How much does an RV windshield weigh?
RV windshields come in different sizes and designs. These two factors influence the weight of the windshield. Also, the class of your RV will determine how much the windshield will weigh.  To give you an idea, RV windshields can weigh between 50 and 250 pounds approximately. There may be some that weigh a lot more than 250 but few  that would weigh less than 50.

Should I replace the windshield myself?
No. This is not a DIY project as there are too many factors that make this a very difficult repair task to attempt on your own. The size, shape, and weight make it impossible for one person to handle the replacement.  You may be able to fix small cracks and chips with a DIY fixit kit but not a major windshield repair. Besides, your insurance company probably will not allow for a DIY replacement.

How do you measure an RV windshield?
One method you can use requires a cloth tape measure. Once you have that ready to go, move to the middle of the sides of the window. Measure the length going across the middle then do the same for the up and down width. There is no reason nor requirement to try to measure the glass under the molding. Just measure the visible portion of the windshield.  When your RV has a damaged windshield, then bring your RV to our location. Our professional technicians can do the repair work for you. All you need to do is give us your insurance information and we will do the rest.  Replacing or repairing your RV’s windshield is best left to the professionals. It is just safer that way.
